What is the Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) ?

This new cutting edge technology allows your periodontist to treat your gum disease and bone loss with a laser beam, replacing the necessity of a scalpel blade or sutures.

How does this technology work?

The laser’s wave length penetrates and vaporizes the pigmented bacteria which cause your gum infection. This process enables your periodontist to treat the infected area without damaging the surrounding tissue. A blood clot is formed around the tooth stimulating your own body to heal and regenerate.

Will this hurt or cause pain after treatment?

There is no pain during the procedure as the area is numbed thoroughly. Patients are very pleasantly surprised by the lack of post treatment pain. If you are apprehensive about your care, we have the ability to offer our patients medications that will help to relax you and take away any apprehension. Medications are prescribed after your laser care that will take care of any minimal discomfort that you may experience.
